Somerville Media - local camera crews in Asia

Somerville Media provided local camera crews and video production support for three Hollywood blockbusters being promoted in Singapore

Local camera crews and production support are a key ingredient for any company looking to produce a video or arrange video coverage in a market which they may not be familiar with – and that is exactly the type of video production services that Somerville Media provides.

Media Junkets and Red Carpet events
Somerville Media regularly provides local production support and camera crews to international clients looking to film in Singapore and the region. One of our recent projects saw us being asked to be the local video production partner for the media junket and red carpet events for Inferno, Ghostbusters and the Magnificent Seven.

A project of this size includes a large number of moving parts and requires international coordination across different timezones and one of the main challenges we faced was to make sure we could provide the right number of crew with the right experience to be able to work quickly and efficiently in a high profile environment.

Over the course of the project, Somerville Media fielded 6 cameramen, three sound recordists, a production assistant, a grip, transport for crew and equipment as well as an extra 18-foot jimmy jib + crew for the Ghostbusters event. We also hired an extensive selection of lighting equipment based on client requirements to cover different sit-down interviews configurations.

Key cast members and directors who were present for the interviews and red carpet events included Tom Hanks and Ron Howard for Inferno, Melissa McArthy and Paul Feig for Ghostbusters and Antoine Fuqua for the Magnificent Seven

Ghostbusters and an 18-foot jimmy jib
For the Ghostbusters red carpet, held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Somerville Media arranged an 18-foot jimmy complete with set-up and tear-down crew and operator. Set-up on the plaza overlooking Marina Bay, the jib allowed for sweeping views of the bay as well as of the Guinness World Record attempt for the ‘Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Ghosts at a Single Venue’. The Ghostbusters fans managed to set a new record!
